www.monashores.netDear Parents and Guardians:
At Mona Shores Public Schools, the safety of students is our top priority. To that end, the District continues to update and review our Building Emergency Management Plans. Our customary procedure is to coordinate District actions with local emergency response teams.
In light of recent threats of terrorist biochemical attacks on the United States, the District has reviewed and updated shelter in place procedures. This includes bringing students to interior spaces, securing all exterior doors and windows to prevent contaminated air from entering the building, and monitoring radio, television, and e-mail for instructions.
There are several ways parents/guardians can assist the District in the event of a chemical emergency.1. Ensure your own safety by staying home.
2. Please do not come to school; your children are sheltered in place.
3. Do not call the school; this will tie up important emergency lines of communication.
4. Tune in to the radio or television or log on to the Mona Shores web site at
5. Information from the media or the District’s web site will provide the place and time you can be reunited with your children.
In the event of a chemical
emergency that involves our schools, the District will
take necessary precautions and shall communicate relevant information
with local emergency response teams. Please note,
in order to keep from contaminating the air inside
the school building, no one will be allowed to enter or
leave until the "all clear" is given by the emergency response team.
Coming to school in such a situation will endanger you and others.
We have prepared these instructions with the assistance of local emergency
response personnel. Ultimately, the best preparation is a
well-informed community and a coordinated agency
response.
Thank your for your cooperation as we take these precautionary actions on
behalf of the students who attend Mona Shores Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Terry L. Babbitt
Superintendent
